Freeport-McMoRan Employees Shatter United Way Campaign Record, Raising $8.3 Million.

December 8, 2017

It's no mystery whodunnit… youdunnit, raising more than $8.3 million during the company's recent United Way campaign.

That's a 14 percent increase over last year that together with a 3 percent increase in employee participation makes this year's fundraising campaign the most successful to date.

"These results are nothing short of FCXtraordinary," said Linda Hayes, Director-Internal Communications and the FCX United Way Committee Chair. "Our No. 1 campaign goal is for more employees to get involved and each year, employees not only step up but raise the bar. On behalf of company leadership, thank you to all who participated – your support and generosity is helping to improve lives and make our communities better places to live."

The company partners with United Way to raise funds for health and human service agencies providing critical programs and services in the areas of education, health and income.

This year's campaign kicked off November 1 with the theme Get A Clue – Give to United Way. Employee coordinators at each site led local efforts, with some sites holding special activities to encourage participation, such as prize drawings, volunteer events and friendly competitions.

Employees donating at least $25 were entered into grand prize drawings and those donating a percent of salary and/or electing to give on a recurring basis were entered into special prize drawings. Winners of these drawings have been contacted directly.

As in past campaigns, the Freeport-McMoRan Foundation double matched employee contributions of $25 or more up to the first $1,000 and single matched amounts more than $1,000.
