Freeport Celebrates Global Volunteer Month

Thanks to the generous spirit of Freeport’s employees, this year’s Global Volunteer Month was a resounding success. Nearly 600 employees across the company’s global operations came together to contribute 2,563 hours to community-focused projects – nearly double the hours from last year.
“Each year, Global Volunteer Month reminds us of the incredible impact we can make together,” said. Tracy Bame, Director-Corporate Social Responsibility and Community Development. “The dedication shown by our employees is a testament to the strength of our culture and our commitment to community. Thank you to all our volunteers who showed up with purpose and compassion.”
From environmental clean-ups to educational outreach, Freeport teams made a meaningful impact in the places where employees live and work. Many of this year’s projects also honored Earth Day, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
- Atlantic Copper – Recreational park clean-up project
- Bagdad – Bridle Creek clean-up
- Bisbee – Agave planting
- Cerro Verde - El Faro artisanal port clean-up project and tree giveaway at a local Earth Day fair
- Colorado – Stock organizing and food bag preparation at local food banks
- El Abra – Renovation and beautification project at a local community garden
- El Paso – Earth Day celebration at a local STEM academy and low-income housing revitalization project
- Fort Madison – Earth Day tree planting and highway roadside clean-up
- Morenci – Earth Day plant giveaway
- New Mexico – Mescal harvest for the Mescalero Apache community and road marshal support at a local bike race
- Phoenix – Campus clean-up at a local wildlife nonprofit
- Safford – Participation in STEM Day at a local college and Burrowing Owl breeding tent construction
- Sierrita – Earth Day buffelgrass removal project at a nearby hiking trail
