We partner with organizations to drive community revitalization efforts in rural areas near our operations. These projects attract investment, spark local business growth and build a foundation for long-term economic strength.
Why this matters.
Communities face multiple threats to their long-term well being from economic transitions and climate change impacts, to social and public health challenges. Freeport’s Community Resilience Initiative supports communities in planning for and adapting to a variety of challenges, with a focus on long-term stability beyond the life of our mines.
Our approach is community-led and Freeport-supported. Through a facilitated process, local leaders, stakeholders and community representatives work together to develop customized Resilience Action Plans. These plans help turn local knowledge into practical, implementable projects that increase endurance and deliver impactful results.
