Our Community Is Our Strength
Through direct giving and volunteering their time, Freeport-McMoRan employees are a key factor in strengthening our communities. Every contribution of time or money helps fund projects that create lasting local value. It’s a simple, transparent way for employees to make a measurable difference where they live and work.
Freeport-McMoRan will match all donations made by employees of $25 or more up to an annual match of $40,000 to eligible nonprofits. Going even further, the Foundation will double-match the first $1,000 of an employee’s gift and then single-match any amount above $1,000, with annual program limits in place for employees. By joining the Matching Gifts portal, Employees can register gifts online and track their match status, making them an involved contributor in each donation.

The date our match check is sent to an organization depends on when an employee request is entered and confirmed. The schedule below outlines entry time frames and the subsequent payment date per quarter.
- January 1 – March 31: Match check sent week of May 31
- April 1 – June 30: Match check sent week of August 31
- July 1 – September 30: Match check sent week of November 30
- October 1- December 31: Match check sent week of February 28 of the following year
By volunteering a minimum of 25 hours in a year to a host nonprofit, employees make that nonprofit eligible to earn $250 for 25–49 hours worked and $500 for 50 or more hours. The Employee Volunteer Fund turns the time staff have graciously donated into direct support for their local organizations.

Freeport Cares is an internal initiative that helps employees and their families use their skills to enrich and develop their communities. Freeport Cares volunteer projects include park clean-ups, food drives and STEM education mentoring, as well as skills-based activities. Additionally, Freeport Cares encourages employees to unite in service across our operating communities for Global Volunteer Month – a program that supports volunteerism globally.
Each year, Freeport partners with United Way for an employee campaign to raise funds for United Way chapters in our operating communities. Through this partnership, Freeport employees contribute to advance the common good in their own communities, with a focus on education, housing and homelessness, health and workforce development.
