Freeport Employees Lend Heart and Hand During Global Volunteer Month

May 29, 2026

Across continents and communities, nearly 400 Freeport employees took part in this year’s Global Volunteer Month, contributing more than 1,700 volunteer hours to 93 projects focused on biodiversity and capacity-building. From restoring habitats and removing invasive plant species in the U.S., to reforestation projects in South America and community cleanups, teams made a lasting impact in the communities they call home.

“Global Volunteer Month is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together in service of others,” said Tracy Bame, Senior Director-Social Performance and President, Freeport-McMoRan Foundation. “I’m incredibly proud of the spirit of giving our employees show around the world. Thanks to everyone who shared their time and talent to make this year’s effort such a success.”

For employees like Glen Means, the impact was both personal and meaningful. As an Environmental Scientist II in Phoenix, participating in his first Global Volunteer Month offered a strong introduction to the company’s culture.

“Participating in the Rio Salado conservation effort through GVM was a truly rewarding experience that highlighted our company’s commitment to environmental stewardship,” he said. “As someone newer to Freeport, it’s exciting to be part of an organization that invests in its communities and takes meaningful action to preserve the habitats we share.”

That focus on meaningful action came to life across projects around the world. Watch the video below to see employees in action, including:
