Freeport Named one of America's Most Honored Companies

December 18, 2024

Freeport, company leaders and various corporate functions were named the industry’s best with a clean sweep of all categories in annual rankings of the 2024 All-America Executive Team by Extel.

Freeport finished first in every category in the Metals and Mining sector based on surveys conducted by Extel, formerly Institutional Investor Research. It also was named one of America’s “Most Honored Companies” for the second year in a row, with an overall ranking of 11th of the 134 companies to receive that recognition. Freeport has been selected as a Most Honored Company every year but one since the rankings were launched in 2009.

In addition to individual honors, Freeport received the “best” ratings in the categories of company board; investor relations team; investor relations program; and for its environmental, social and governance program.

The results are based on surveys of buy-side analysts, money managers and sell-side researchers at securities firms and financial institutions that cover the region.

Recognition was divided into three categories based on respondents: buy-side, sell-side and combined. Freeport finished first in all combined categories, as well as those separated by buy- and sell-side specialists.

In addition to the company awards, individual Freeport leaders rated the industry’s best are:

Richard Adkerson, Chairman of the Board and former Chief Executive Officer, was named Best CEO in the buy, sell and combined categories. Earlier this year, Adkerson became a member of Extel’s All-America Executive Team CEO Hall of Fame following 11 previous first-place finishes. He was replaced by Kathleen Quirk as Freeport’s CEO in June.

Maree Robertson, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, was rated Best CFO in all three categories.

David Joint, Vice President, Investor Relations, was ranked Best IR Professional in all three categories.

“Being recognized as a Most Honored Company and the Number One company in Metals and Mining in the recent Extel ranking of U.S. public companies is a strong endorsement of the IR and ESG programs we have in place and relationships we have built with Wall Street analysts and investors,” Joint said. “We focus on building trust through transparency, as we manage relationships with shareholders to ensure they understand our strategy and how we work to build value in our company.”

All three individuals also received top honors last year when the rankings were known as the Institutional Investor’s All-America Executive Team. Freeport also was selected as a Most Honored Company last year.

In all, 3,360 money managers and buy-side analysts and more than 330 sell-side researchers were surveyed. Over 1,400 U.S. corporations across 23 performance metrics were rated.

Categories in which companies and individuals were judged include service and communication, authority and credibility, responsiveness, earnings calls, business and market knowledge, and virtual meetings/presentations. Also in consideration were the companies’ financial disclosures that were rated for consistency, granularity, and quality and relevance. These ratings were aggregated to produce an overall IR Program rank for each company.
