The excitement for the groundbreaking of the Clear Creek County Collaborative Care Center was palpable. No obstacle, not even the COVID-19 pandemic, could detract from the enthusiasm for this long-awaited project. On Friday, October 16, a select few project representatives attended an on-site, socially-distanced groundbreaking ceremony, which was recorded via Facebook Live on Clear Creek County’s Facebook account.
The project is being developed by Clear Creek County, designed by TreanorHL, and constructed by Alliance Construction Solutions. The project received grant funding, as well as additional funding from the Henderson Mine and Gates Family Foundation. Other stakeholders include representatives from Henderson Mill, Colorado Health Foundation, Freeport-McMoRan Foundation, Centura Health, St. Anthony’s Hospital, Pisula Development Company, and Henderson Mine.
Once completed, the 12,000-square-foot Collaborative Care Center, located on the southeast corner of Miner Street and Soda Creek Road in Idaho Springs, will leverage the combined resources of the entire county to provide services under one roof. The Collaborative Care Center will provide behavioral, physical, and mental health services for both residents and visitors.
The momentum surrounding the Collaborative Care Center stems from a hard-fought and resilient effort from a variety of stakeholders to arrive at this moment. The last independent primary care practice in Clear Creek County closed in 2011, and it was then that the County began searching for a replacement.
It wasn’t until 2017 that a primary care facility was formed in the city’s 1,335-square-foot historic Jacob House, which was converted to meet the needs of the healthcare facility. However, as demand grew (exceeding all projected forecasts), the county was once again reminded of the need for a larger, more permanent facility, and the idea for the Clear Creek County Collaborative Care Center was born.
The County believes the Collaborative Care Center will “serve as a foundation as we work to build healthy connections in our communities,” adding that the project is an “innovative and thoughtful approach to improving the lives of those who are looking for quality, sustainable, inclusive healthcare.”
The Clear Creek County Collaborative Care Center is expected to open in Q2 2021.
